<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid developer having high fixability, and to achieve reduction of energy consumption in a wet development method. <P>SOLUTION: The liquid developer contains an electrically insulative carrier liquid, toner particles dispersed in the carrier liquid, and a nonvolatile water-soluble solvent that is not compatible with the carrier liquid. The nonvolatile water-soluble solvent is preferably one or more kinds of compounds selected from polyalcohols being liquid at a normal temperature.
