A lighting device is provided with: a light-guiding body; a liquid crystal layer which is arranged on a light exiting surface of the light-guiding body; a light source which causes light to enter a light entering surface of the light-guiding body; a plurality of first electrodes which are provided on the light exiting surface of the light-guiding body and arranged in the direction toward which the light propagates; a second electrode which generates an electric field inside the liquid crystal layer by the voltage with the first electrode; and dielectric layers which are provided between the light-guiding body and the respective first electrodes and have a refractive index lower than that of the light-guiding body.
