<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To display on a screen an optimal image easy for a user to see and to efficiently reduce power consumption. <P>SOLUTION: A luminance control device (10, 60, 70) for performing the luminance control of backlight with respect to a display screen for displaying an input video signal comprises: video information analysis means (12) which analyses information in at least one element among an average luminance level, luminance histogram information, color histogram information, and frequency histogram information obtained from a video frame included in the video signal; block information acquisition means (13) which divides the video frame into predetermined blocks from the result of the analysis to acquire video information of each block; luminance correction means (17, 62) for performing the luminance correction of backlight corresponding to each divided block; and backlight drive control means (15) which performs driving control of the backlight of each block included in the display screen, on the basis of the correction information obtained by the luminance correction means (17). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
