According to one embodiment, the mobile terminal includes: a display for displaying a folder icon corresponding to at least one application; a communication unit for receiving update information corresponding at least partially to the at least one application; and a controller for controlling the display to display the folder icon and, upon receipt of the update information by the communication unit, for controlling the display to display a graphical object indicating the receipt of the update information and corresponding to the folder icon.
