The injection nozzle is directed on the open space (16) between the electrodes (5,6) where the ignition sparks (36) occur. The desired spreading direction of the flame core or of the flame lies in the injection direction (19) of the injection nozzle (7) behind the electrodes (5,6). The centre of the combustion chamber (1) lies in the injection direction of the injection nozzle (7) behind the electrodes (5,6). A spark plug (4) serves as the ignition unit, the middle axis of which runs at an angle of 90 deg. to the injection direction (19) of the injection nozzle. The spark plug electrodes (5,6) are aligned to the injection direction, so that at least one part of the injected fuel mixture (37) lands unhindered in between the electrodes through the open space (16). USE/ADVANTAGE - IC engine. Designed to give reproducible, uniform combustion of the fuel mixture. Fluctuations due to fuel inhomogeneities and heat extraction are prevented.
