An electrical generator is disclosed for generating electricity from wind power. The generator comprises a rotatable shaft (3) and at least one module (1) arranged around the shaft (3). The module has first and second ends that are located in spaced apart relationship along the shaft (3), and the outer surface of the module is recessed around the axis of the shaft ()3 between the first and second ends. Each module comprises at least one wind turbine (7) that is configured to catch wind in use so as to cause the shaft (3) to rotate about the axis of the shaft (3). The least one wind turbine (7) is located within said recess. The shape of the module (1) and location of the wind turbine (7) provide a lightweight and space conserving arrangement for optimal power generation and also reduces the pressure behind the turbine (7) blades. |
