<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method capable of continuously and stably manufacturing a long optical film having an optically anisotropic layer with a high definition pattern. <P>SOLUTION: The method for manufacturing a long optical film having a long support and thereon, a patterned optically anisotropic layer including a plurality of areas mutually different in at least one kind of optical properties comprises at least: a first step for supplying a photosensitive composition on the long support continuously conveyed by a plurality of conveying rollers to form a photosensitive film of the photosensitive composition; and a second step for pattern-exposing the photosensitive film on the support.
