The present invention enables a monitor provided at a predetermined remote site to display various information necessary for rescuing people inside a building when an elevator is used for evacuation purposes at the time of fire. The present monitor control device includes: a monitor (15) provided, for example, in an emergency control center (3); a display control means (21) that controls the displaying of the monitor (15); a camera (5) installed in an elevator hall; a fire detector (4) that detects the outbreak of fire; and an operation control means (11) that controls the normal operation of an elevator and the evacuation operation thereof at the time of fire. When the operation control means (11) starts to control the evacuation operation, the display control means (21) makes the monitor (15) automatically display an image of the elevator hall captured by the camera (5) and predetermined evacuation information including information about the floor where the outbreak of fire was detected by the fire detector (4).
