<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To miniaturize a module to scan an object with an optical beam and to detect reflection of the optical beam as well. <P>SOLUTION: An optical module has a module housing with a pedestal where a collimator lens is fixed thereto and a laser light source unit is arranged thereon so that a laser beam can be output almost parallel to an optical path passing through an optical axis of the collimator lens. When manufacturing the optical module, first, the laser light source is fixed to the pedestal with a clip so as to be movable only in the direction of the optical path. Then, a position of the laser light source is adjusted by moving the same along the optical path so that the adjusted position enables the laser beam to become parallel light by the collimator lens.
