<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To control the movement of an intermediate transfer belt so that the optimal first print-out time can be realized in forming an image, while mitigating the influence of curl of the intermediate transfer belt. <P>SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus forms curl at a predetermined position on an intermediate transfer belt 5a and stops the intermediate transfer belt 5a to avoid the transfer of a toner image on the curl formed on the intermediate transfer belt 5a in starting to form the toner image soon after a preparation operation is completed by detecting a reference mark during the preparation operation for image formation in starting the image formation, thus reducing or eliminating the possibility of occurrence of image defects caused by the curl on the intermediate transfer belt to realize the optimal first print-out time. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
