The cathode has an emitter i.e. flat emitter (1), arranged in a cathode head for emitting electrons during applying of filament voltage. An end region (4) of the emitter is positioned by a fixed bearing (5), and another end region (6) of the emitter is limited at a thermal main expansion plane by a floating bearing (7). The fixed bearing and the floating bearing are formed as electric contacts and arranged in a longitudinal axis of the emitter. The fixed bearing is provided with a column-like support element (51) and an attachment member (52).
