In order to conducting internet auctions in which the bidding price is lowered over time and the first bidder's bid is accepted, the disclosed auction system promotes willingness to bid even when the presence of competing bidders cannot be ascertained. When conducting an internet auction of the aforementioned type, if a numerical value representing the time since auction start becomes equal to a generated random number, or, if a price calculated by substituting a generated random number into a set formula becomes equal to the bidding price, or, if a continuously generated random number becomes equal to a pre-set numerical value, then, by providing a function of interrupting the transaction, the aforementioned problem is solved by giving the bidder the uncertainty that the transaction may be suddenly interrupted.
