Provided is a dye-sensitized solar cell having an optical electrode formed by using a stainless steel plate and an opposing electrode formed by using a translucent conductive material. The optical electrode includes: a base formed by a stainless steel plate having a chemical composition containing 16 mass % or above of Cr and 0.3 mass % or above of Mo and having a surface roughed by hole-shaped indentations so as to have an arithmetic average roughness Ra adjusted to be 0.2μm or above; and a semiconductor layer holding a sensitization dye and arranged on the roughed surface of the base. The opposing electrode includes a thin catalyst layer formed on the surface of the translucent conductive material and transmitting a visible light. The semiconductor layer of the optical electrode is arranged to oppose to the thin catalyst layer of the opposing electrode via an electrolyte liquid so as to constitute a dye-sensitized solar cell having an improved photoelectric conversion efficiency at a reasonable cost. |
