<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the quality of an image produced by horizontal pixel addition on horizontal signal lines while adopting a multilevel hierarchical connection structure for the horizontal signal lines. <P>SOLUTION: A solid state imaging element 1 includes a plurality of pixels 10, a plurality of vertical signal lines 11, a plurality of sample hold sections 15S, 15N, a horizontal output section and a horizontal scan circuit 18. The horizontal output section comprises: a plurality of first horizontal signal lines 31S, 31N connected to at least two or more vertical signal lines 11; and second horizontal signal lines 32N, 32S connected to a plurality of the first horizontal signal lines 31S, 31N via selection switches HGS, HGN. When pixel signals held by the sample hold sections 15S, 15N are output to the first horizontal signal lines 31S, 31N, the horizontal scan circuit 18 controls at least two of a plurality of the selection switches HGS, HGN on to output them to the second horizontal signal lines 32N, 32S. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
