<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase an area capable of starting rewriting operation without depending on previous rewriting operation in a display device that rewrites an image by applying voltage a plurality of times. <P>SOLUTION: A controller acquires image data from a VRAM (Sa2), compares the image data and data that indicate a display state to be displayed on each pixel and determines whether or not the both match each other (Sa3). The controller further determines that there are pixels requiring rewriting operation when the image data and the data indicating the display state to be displayed on the each pixel do not match each other. The controller furthermore determines whether or not previous rewriting operation is performed by determining whether or not a remaining count is 0 with respect to the pixels requiring the rewriting operation (Sa6).
