<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain the higher-speed transfer of image data. <P>SOLUTION: A printer engine in a printer has data transfer control parts for every color, and image data of each color is transferred to each of the data transfer control parts from a host device. The transferred image data of each color is stored in a memory provided in each data transfer control part. A printer controller exchanges control information with the host device through a control line, and controls each data transfer control part based on the control information while controlling a conveyance control part for controlling conveyance of printing paper.
