PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To calculate a feature amount appropriately reflecting a feature difference of each image with a feature amount having a relatively small number of dimensions in a feature amount acquisition method for acquiring a feature amount of image data.

SOLUTION: A feature amount acquisition device 1 calculates the average and variance of pixel values of image data, and comprises a feature amount calculation unit 314 for calculating a feature amount based on the calculated average and variance. By calculating the feature amount based on the average and variance that are indices directly indicating characteristics of the data, a feature amount appropriately reflecting a characteristic difference of each image and having a relatively small number of dimensions can be obtained.
