<p>A method for reducing emissions of an internal combustion engine(10), which engine (10) comprises at least one cylinder (1), a reciprocating piston (2) arranged inside the cylinder (1), an intake channel(3), an exhaust channel (4), at least one intake valve (5) and at least one exhaust valve (6). The intake valve (5) is closed during the intake stroke before the piston (2) reaches bottom dead center. After closing the intake valve (5), the exhaust valve (6) is reopened for letting exhaust gas flow into the cylinder (1). Before closing the exhaust valve (6), water is injected into the exhaust channel (4).The invention also concerns an internal combustion engine(10).</p> |
