The device (1) has a magnetic-field-sensitive sensor (2) and one biasing magnet (3) arranged spatially separated from each other and stationary witch respect to each other. The magnetic field-sensitive sensor and the bias magnet are adjacent to the sides of a receiving gap (12) in which one of the two metallic components is movable relative to other. The magnetic field-sensitive sensor and the bias magnet are connected to one of the two components. A flux concentrator (5) is located adjacent to the sensor and/or biasing magnet such that a closed magnetic circuit is formed.
