<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water heater that suppresses reduction in usable hot water amount due to generation of intermediate temperature water and lowering of efficiency at boiling up, while preventing increase of heat radiation loss caused by convection inside piping where the intermediate temperature water is taken out, in a structure using hot water of a hot water storage tank. <P>SOLUTION: A hot water storage type water heater includes: the hot water storage tank 1; a first tapping pipe 3 connected to an upper part of the hot water storage tank 1; a water supply pipe 5 connected to a lower part of the hot water storage tank 1; and a second tapping pipe 4 connected between a position where the first tapping pipe 3 is connected and a position where the water supply pipe 5 is connected in a vertical direction of the hot water storage tank 1.
