<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To shorten a printing distance and hence a printing throughput in a printer 12 that has a plurality of paper feed trays storing sheets of printing paper, selects one of the plurality of paper feed trays, feeds out a sheet of printing paper, and carries out printing. <P>SOLUTION: The printer includes: a paper-direction information table 20 storing, for each paper size, possible short running direction information capable of shortening a printing time; and a tray comparison processing section 17 for determining whether or not a paper feed tray for a specified paper size is present. If the tray comparison processing section 17 makes a determination that a printing paper of the specified size is present in none of the paper feed trays, the specified paper size and reprinting based on the possible short-running-direction information corresponding to the specified paper size in the paper-direction information table 20 are guided. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
