Disclosed is an inside-out type alkaline battery wherein a positive electrode mixture, which contains a positive electrode active material and is molded into an annular shape, is disposed in a bottomed cylindrical positive electrode can that also serves as a positive electrode collector. The positive electrode can is provided with a nickel plating layer on the inner surface, and a coating film composed of a nickel cobalt alloy is formed on the surface layer of the nickel plating layer. The coating film composed of a nickel cobalt alloy has a thickness of 0.15-0.25 µm (inclusive), and the ratio of cobalt in the alloy is 40-60% (inclusive).
