Provided are a wireless communication device, a communication system and a control method, by which power consumption is reduced by broadening the interval between intermittent receptions without affecting the call-in rate. The wireless communication device includes: a receiving unit (21) that receives radio waves emitted by a plurality of antennas on a base station, and transforms the radio waves into a signal; a signal processing unit (22) that performs predetermined signal processing of the signal transformed by the receiving unit (21); a detecting unit (23) that detects a control channel in the signal processed by the signal processing unit (22); an electric field intensity calculation unit (24) that calculates the electric field intensity for one period of the control channel in composite waves which periodically rotate; and a receive control unit (26) that controls the receiving unit so as to periodically receive the composite waves in the control channel on the basis of the calculation result calculated by the electric field intensity calculation unit (24).
