<p>An imaging device capable of consistently reducing the volume of data per unit of time by at least a certain amount, regardless of the imaging conditions, is provided. This imaging device is provided with: a photoelectric conversion unit (11), in which a plurality of pixels (Pxy), which convert incoming light to electric signals, are arranged in a two-dimensional shape, and which outputs a plurality of converted electric signals as pixel data; a feature detection unit (14) that detects the features of each area of an image on the basis of the pixel data output by the photoelectric conversion unit; a compression ratio setting unit (13) that sets the compression ratio for each area on the basis of the features detected by the feature detection unit (14); and a compression unit (12) that performs lossy compression on the pixel data output by the photoelectric conversion unit (11) according to the compression ratios set by the compression ratio setting unit (13).</p> |
