<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an ultrasonic diagnostic apparatus which enables a display as a flat panel display to be easily attached to an arm mechanism. <P>SOLUTION: The arm mechanism includes a first engaging mechanism 26, and the display includes a second engaging mechanism 28. A shaft-like portion 36A for support is formed at the upper end of a support plate possessed by the first engaging mechanism 26, and a hook groove 44A is formed at the upper end of a frame base possessed by the second engaging mechanism 28. When the hook groove 44A is hooked on the shaft-like portion 36A in the state of bringing the display into an oblique attitude, both of them are connected together so that the arm mechanism can bear a load of the display. Then, when the display is turned, the first and second engaging mechanisms can be put into a fully connected state. In that case, a lock mechanism operates to integrate both of them together.
