<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a difference of the reflectances in a light irradiated area and in a light unirradiated area. <P>SOLUTION: A peak voltage is increased by applying a DC voltage and a pulse voltage as compared with the case of only DC voltages having the same average voltage applied or only the pulse voltage applied. Thus, the photoelectric conversion efficiency of a photosensitive layer is improved and the reflectance in a light irradiation state is further decreased. A bottom voltage is decreased as compared with the case of only the DC voltage applied. Consequently, the voltage applied to a liquid crystal layer in a dark state is further decreased and reduction of reflectance in the dark state is suppressed.
