<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicular shock-absorbing member having excellent shock-absorbing characteristic. <P>SOLUTION: In the shock-absorbing member, in a state in which a base end of a small-diameter tube 4 is inserted in a fore end of a large-diameter tube 5, overlapping sections of both tubes are expanded to form outwardly projecting parts 41, 51. The large-diameter tube 5 is accommodated in a side frame 6 and fixed to the side frame 6, and the small-diameter tube 4 is arranged so as to be projected from a fore end of the side frame 6. When a shock is applied to the small-diameter tube 4 from its fore end side, the small-diameter tube 4 is press-fitted in the large-diameter tube 5 while a circumferential wall of the large-diameter tube 5 is plastically deformed in the outside diameter direction by an outwardly projecting part 41 of the small-diameter tube 4. Thus, the shock energy is absorbed, and at least the base end of the small-diameter tube is accommodated in the side frame. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
