<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a power converter of modular multilevel PWM converter type, capable of performing stable control in any operation mode. <P>SOLUTION: A power converter 1 of modular multilevel cascade type includes: a plurality of chopper cells each of which contains a semiconductor switch group containing two semiconductor switches connected in series and a DC capacitor connected in parallel to the semiconductor switch group; a first arm containing a plurality of chopper cells connected in cascade; a second arm which is connected to the first arm in series and contains a plurality of chopper cells connected in cascade; command value generating means which generates a circulation current command value based on the voltage value of the DC capacitor in the first arm as well as the voltage value of the DC capacitor in the second arm; and control means which performs control so that the circulation current, which is a half of the sum of the current flowing through the first arm and the current flowing through the second arm, follows the circulation current command value. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
