摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an escalator capable of reliably preventing an object such as a baggage of a passenger overflowing to the outside of a moving handrail from being pinched between the ceiling of a building and the moving handrail. <P>SOLUTION: The escalator includes: a foot step 13 which circulates and travels so as to convey a passenger from a platform 2 of the lower floor side to a platform 2 of the upper floor side; a pair of moving handrails 17 which are guided by the peripheral edges of a pair of parapets 15 erected opposite to each other so as to sandwich the foot step 13 between the parapets; a distance/height information gaining device 33 which is arranged on an opening shaped space 21 formed between the moving handrail 17 and the ceiling 20 of the building and gains and outputs information corresponding to a distance to the object overflowing to the outside of the moving handrail 17 and information corresponding to a height of the object from the moving handrail 17; and an escalator control board 40 which controls a traveling speed of the footstep 13 based on a distance between the object and the distance/height information gaining device 33 derived based on the output of the distance/height information gaining device 33 and the height of the object from the moving handrail 17. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT
