The available brake force of a generator is determined (16) and used to calculate an equivalent volume of brake fluid, upon actuation of the brake pedal by the driver, corresponding to a hydraulic braking of the motor vehicle. The equivalent volume of brake fluid is passed from a brake circuit based on the calculation. A separation valve is provided for disconnection of brake circuit from the main cylinder. Independent claims are included for the following: (1) braking system; and (2) motor car.
