<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hoisting machine for elevator, which can be easily assembled by reducing the number of components, can be made compact and light in weight. <P>SOLUTION: Bearings 4, 5 are supported on bearing stands 2, 3 respectively and both end parts of a rotary shaft 6 are freely rotatably supported via the bearings 4, 5. The rotating shaft 6 consists of carbon steel, for example. A main cable winding part 6a around which a main cable 7 is wound is integrally formed on the middle part of the rotating shaft 6. A plurality of rope grooves 6b into which the main cable 7 is inserted are disposed on the main cable winding part 6a. The main cable winding part 6a is forged when manufacturing the rotary shaft 6.
