The sensor has a housing module (26) comprising mutually rotatable sensor components for detecting torsion of a torsion bar and coaxially interconnecting shafts of a steering column of a motor car with each other. One of the shafts is designed as a retainer shaft, which is connected with a steering wheel (12) of the motor car. The other shaft is designed as a steering shaft (22). The housing module is attached to a tubular casing (23) to receive the steering shaft, and the shafts are mounted at the housing module before attaching the housing module at the tubular casing.
