A process for the exchange of health-damaging materials for non-damaging materials, esp. fire protection flaps in air conditioning units, includes dismantling the ventilation segments around the flaps, applying sealing agents around the air channel, installation of a sack contg. a pocket and a sepn. unit, and then sepg. the holding device of the flap. The sepd. flap is placed in the sack and the partitioned areas are then vacuumed out. The sack is removed. The region is then subjected to a wet cleaning process and any residual waste is bound. A new flap is fitted and the air channel is reconnected. ADVANTAGE - The process is safe and reliable and ensures e.g. asbestos, does not escape.
