Extraction of CO2 gas

A photo-bioreactor (17) is used for extraction of carbon dioxide from exhaust gases of an engine (10) used for compression of natural gas by providing at least a vessel (18) and in each contacting the gases with a liquid medium containing photo-synthetic organisms. The vessel (18) receives the gases and is controlled to manage the temperature and dwell time to take into account the reducing CO2 content. The gases (23) are introduced using directional diffusers at the bottom of the bath which generate a flow in the water. The vessel (18) has a water supply (222) and harvesting system (34) so that the excess organisms grown are extracted from each for harvesting (37). A gas recirculation system (46) is controlled to manage the gas dwell time in the vessel (18). The divider walls contain the electrically powered lights (28) between two transparent sheets.
