The invention relates to method of strengthening ground surface or ground structure, such as a riff, water bottom, field, dune, dike, or road, comprising the steps of contacting the ground surface (27) with at least one petrifiable element (3) comprising a core body provided with outwardly projecting labyrinth elements (15) for collecting ground surface material in between the labyrinth elements. The material collected in between the labyrinth elements is allowed to petrify and bind to the ground surface.
