PURPOSE: An anticancer composition containing Cedrela sinensis extract is provided to promote expression or activation of Nrf2 and to promote MAPK activation. CONSTITUTION: An anticancer composition contains Cedrela sinensis extract as an active ingredient. The extract is prepared from leaves of Cedrela sinensis using water or organic solvent. The organic solvent is methanol, ethanol, propanol, isopropanol, butanol, acetone, ether, benzene, chloroform, ethyl acetate, or methylene chloride. A health food for preventing or treating cancer contains the extract or sitologically acceptable carrier.
