<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal device capable of smoothly performing initial transition operation of an OCB mode while suppressing a decrease in an aperture ratio to the minimum. <P>SOLUTION: The liquid crystal device is a transflective liquid crystal device of the OCB mode multi-gap system. A liquid crystal layer 50 thickness adjustment layer 24 for making the thickness of a liquid crystal layer 50 in a reflective display region R smaller than that in a transmissive display region T is provided on a counter substrate 20 in a subpixel. An initial transition structure 55 forming an initial transition core of the liquid crystal layer 50 is provided in a plane area of a step inclination part 70 formed between the reflective display region R and the transmissive display region T due to the liquid crystal layer thickness adjustment layer 24. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT |
