Each remote station comprises a wired sensor hub hard-wired to at least one sensor so as to receive data relating a monitored parameter. The wired sensor hub comprises a data converter for converting the data to a wired protocol. A wireless adapter is hard-wired to the wired sensor hub so as to receive data using the wired protocol. The wireless adapter converts the data to a wireless protocol, and a wireless transmitter transmits the data. A central monitoring station comprises a wireless receiver which receives data signals from the plurality of remote stations.
