Method for operating a bus system

The method involves sending data frames into a bus system for communication of participants (28, 30) of a bus system i.e. controller area network bus system. The frames are provided with message identification and user data fields. Each participant for transmission from a state to another state responds to the frames with data contents. The frames are transferred in the bus system for selective transmission of participants from the former state to the latter state, where message identification and user data field contents of the participants to be addressed are made to respond to the frames.
