[Also in Groups XXIV and XXXIV] A shaft, axle, spindle &c. is cast in situ within a sintered metal bush or bushes which provide bearing surfaces. The shaft may be of metal, e.g. zinc or aluminium alloy, or plastic. The sintered metal may be of bronze or of ferrous material and may be oil-impregnated or graphitecontaining for lubrication. As applied to a roller for a textile drafting machine a shaft 3 is diecast within sintered metal bushes 5 which are accommodated in recesses 6 in the completed shaft. Other constructions of roller are illustrated, Figs. 3-9 (not shown). |
