Class 115 In a gravity davit in which each davit arm 1 in its inboard position has its lower end situated at a distance above the ship's deck and performs a movement in athwart plane under the control of a cable 8, each arm 1 performs a swinging movement by being pivoted at a point between its upper and lower ends at one end 2 of a rod 3.or the like, the other end 4 of which is pivoted at or near the deck at a distance inside of the ship's side, the lower end 5 of the davit arm being adapted to be lowered against the deck by a constraining member 6 during the movement of the arm from its inside position. In the embodiment of Fig. 1 the constraining member 6. is curved to cause an initial movement of the lower end 5 of the davit arm in a direction inwardly from the ship's side. In the embodiment of Fig. 3 the constraining member 6 is pivoted at 15 to perform a swinging movement under the control of the cable 8 running over rollers 9 and 10 on the davit arm, a roller 16 on the top portion of the constraining member 6 and a block 17 on the davit arm or the lower end of the constraining member 6, and interconnecting the davit arm and the top end of the constraining member. |
