Lukos In a preferred embodiment, a roller tube support for an awning, the roller tube having wound thereon an awning fabric, the roller tube support including: a frame with the roller tube extending therethrough; a plurality of cylindrical rotatable rollers disposed along the frame in contact with the awning fabric on the roller tube, the rollers having axes parallel to the axis of the roller tube; each of the cylindrical rollers comprising inner and outer, nested, cylindrical shells attached together to form the cylindrical roller; the outer cylindrical shell being formed from a relatively soft material and the inner cylindrical shell being formed from a relatively hard material; and the degree of softness of the outer shell and the degree of hardness of the inner shell being selected such that the relative coefficient of friction between the outer shell and the awning fabric and the relative coefficient of friction between the inner cylindrical shell and a shaft on which the cylindrical roller is mounted are such that the awning fabric grips the outer cylindrical shell and causes the cylindrical roller to rotate on the shaft, such as to preclude the sliding of the awning fabric over the roller and minimizing wear of the awning fabric.
