<p>A wellhead system (20) comprising a seal (40) with a restraining member (52, 124) adapted to cooperate with a housing (24) to restrict axial movement of the seal (40). The seal (40) is adapted to form a seal between the housing (24), such as a wellhead, and a tubular member (26), such as a casing hanger. The seal (40) has a latch ring (52, 124) that is expanded outward as the seal (40) is installed within the wellhead. Axial movement of the seal (40) is restricted by engagement between the expanded latch ring (52, 124) and the inner profile (32) of the housing (24). The seal (40) and housing (26) may be adapted so that a portion of the seal is received by a recess (72, 74, 128) in the inner profile (32) of the housing (24).Fig. 1</p> |
