<p>The invention relates to a tyre fitting out the wheels of an airplane landing gear. According to the invention, the tyre consists of a rubber body (1) externally provided on its sidewalls with some ribs (2) which, under the effect of an air current (P) flowing over a retracted landing gear, imparts the wheel a rotation motion in the direction corresponding to the airplane flying direction, thereby achieving a peripheral speed (VP) of the body (1) almost equal with the flying speed upon landing, with a view to prevent the wear of the body (1) caused by the sliding friction at the contact with a runway (3).</p> |
