The present invention refers to a method of detection of interleukin IL-1ß for the diagnosis of osteoarthritis at early stages. The method also refers to the relationship of the pro-inflammatory and anti-inflammatory cytokines expression in a healthy cartilage and an ostearthritic cartilage. The detection method consists in inducing the OA by means of a partial menisectomy and a workout of high impact, and removing samples of cartilage under aseptic conditions. The present invention also refers to the determination of the expression changes in proteins in the cartilage during the osteoarthritis progression.
