PURPOSE: A device for driving a monorail vehicle is provided to minimize the loss of driving force by transferring driving force with a transfer unit connecting a driving unit to a running unit. CONSTITUTION: A device for driving a monorail vehicle comprises a body(100), a driving unit, a running unit, and a transfer unit. The body comprises a roller. The roller makes rolling contact with the upper and lower parts of both sides of a monorail based on support ribs(502) protruded from both sides in the length direction of the monorail(500). The driving unit is mounted on the body and generates driving force. The running unit moves the body in the length direction with the driving force of the driving unit maintaining a coupled state to the top of the monorail corresponding to the normal and inverse rotation of the driving unit.
