PURPOSE: A film forming method and a softening device are provided to enable a film to have uniform thickness since the side of a ban is pressed from the top and the bottom, so the floating of the side is accurately corrected. CONSTITUTION: A film forming method is as follows. A band(33) is wound on the outer parts of a pair of rollers and is delivered in a longitudinal direction. The band comprises a central part(33c), welded parts(33w), and sides(33s). The welded extended in a longitudinal direction and sides floated from the rollers are pressed by a first roller, so the floating of the sides is corrected. Dope is softened, and flexible membranes are formed on the central part and both welded parts of the band. The flexible membranes are separated from the band. The flexible membranes are dried to form films.
