Provided is a composition for stimulating a universal immune response in a patient bearing any type of cancer said composition comprising a mixture of two or more different types of allogeneic tumor cells wherein at least one type of said allogeneic tumor cell comprises tumor stem cells, each of which type of tumor cells natively secretes an immunosuppressive agent which is TGF-â, PGE-2 or CTLA-4 and has been genetically modified to inhibit the expression or activity of said immunosuppressive agent, wherein the different types of cells in said mixture collectively express tumor associated antigens such that a complete spectrum of tumor-associated antigens representing all types of cancer is presented.
