The method involves placing activation of an electrical rotating machine (1) from a waking state to an energy generator state under the dependence of a signal (4) from a logic controller (3) of a motor vehicle. Activation of the electrical rotating machine is placed under the dependence of another signal (7) from any control unit (5) e.g. brake mechanism control pedal, of the vehicle actuatable by a driver. Self-excitation (8) of the machine is induced from the latter signal in case of prior detection of absence of reception of the former signal by the machine. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a device for securing operation of an electrical rotating machine of a motor vehicle (2) a motor vehicle equipped with a logic controller.
