A method and an apparatus for deinterlacing using judder detection are provided to compare a field, interpolated by using an interpolation pixel generated by using a motion vector, with a current field to detect the amount of judder, and performs interpolation using selectively the interpolation pixel generated by using the motion vector or an interpolation pixel generated by using surrounding pixel values, thereby detecting and removing an interpolation error effectively which can be generated by using a wrong motion vector. An motion vector detector(110) extracts the motion degree between a previous field and a next field based on pixels of a current field of an inputted image. An inter-field interpolation unit(120) generates an interpolation pixel using a motion vector acquired by comparison among the current field of an input image, a previous field, and a next field. An intra-field interpolation unit(150) generates an interpolation pixel using pixel values around pixels of which the interpolation is performed in the current field. A judder detector(130) compares a field, interpolated by using the interpolation pixel generated by the inter-field interpolation unit, with the current field to detect the amount of judder. An interpolation processor(160) performs interpolation using the interpolation pixel generated in the inter-field interpolation unit or the intra-field interpolation unit selectively on the basis of the detection result. |
